Tekken X Street Fighter will continue to juggle on his PS4

It’s been a long time since we heard anything about Tekken X Street Fighter. The elusive troublemaker, which was originally announced in 2010, seems to have taken a backseat lately, but director Katsuhiro Harada recently indicated that development would be shifting to the PlayStation 4. Now, speaking to Korean website Inven, he has hinted that production is progressing well.

“The Tekken X Street Fighter base system is already finished,” he said, “but we still have to finish Tekken 7 and its planned updates first.” With the next entry into Bandai Namco’s premium fighting property mainline due next year, it doesn’t look like we’re going to see this until 2016 at the earliest. However, it’s nice to know that the project hasn’t been scrapped, especially when Street Fighter X Tekken has failed to set the world on fire.

In fact, with Street Fighter V also on the way, Harada concluded that the company is currently planning a new reveal strategy that won’t conflict with the primary games in either series. To be honest, though, we suspect that will mean not mentioning him for a few more years. Are you still excited about the idea of this crossover, or do you think it’s a concept that should be KO?
