CR-48. The laptop designed for Google’s Chrome OS

ChromeOS is delayed, tablets now have priority, but Google does not want us to think that its operating system for netbooks and notebooks has been parked. To remind us that it is still there and that it may arrive sooner than we think, the CR-48 has been presented. Which is named after an isotope of Chromium and which has a platform minimum that Google expects from all laptops designed for its system.

This model has a 12” screen and minimal physical connectivity that is reduced to USB ports and a card slot. On the other hand, wireless connectivity will be top-of-the-line with Wifi-N, Bluetooth and an integrated 3G modem. It will have a custom keyboard, webcam, and hardware to be defined, although the next Fusion processors from AMD will undoubtedly suit it wonderfully, and also, without a doubt, the latest generation of Atom processors.

Google states that the CR-48 will have an autonomy of 8 hours and 8 days at rest, so it will be a small format machine but great features. We will have to wait a few months to know prices and other more precise data.
