Andromeda, Android and Chrome OS joined together

Next 4th October Google will be the absolute protagonist, thanks to a real event that promises to be full of surprises for the Mountain View company.

Pixel smartphones and other devices such as Chromecast Ultra 4K, Google Wi-Fi and Google Home they should be the main protagonists of this event, which obviously can be followed live on the web.

However, there are very good chances that during this event on October 4th we can also talk about “Andromeda“. This is none other than the hybrid operating system it has merged Android and Chrome OS.

TheSenior Vice President of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, recently in a tweet, he hinted that the event of October 4 could take on the significance of a real epochal moment for Google.

The prominent Android executive, last September 24th, wrote on his personal profile in the famous social network: “I have the feeling that in eight years from today we will talk about October 4, 2016”, referring to the event that will take place shortly. In short, all this suggests that there is at stake for Google something really important.

Another clue that comes, again about this eventuality, was reported by the site 9to5Google who noticed a curious fact within the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) variant code of Android 7.0 Nougat.

These clues suggest that there may be a desire to unify Android and Chrome OS. The landing of the Play Store applications on Chromebook devices it was the first intervention that ends up enriching the ecosystem and offering users an even more complete experience than the one offered by the Chrome browser alone and its numerous extensions.

Create a kind of unification between Android and Chrome OS it could therefore mean that we would be faced with 2 entities that are independent of each other but share a series of fundamental elements. It would therefore be a situation similar to that of a Windows 10: the same system, but with different versions depending on whether it is of mobile or desktop.

In this way the developers could have a single platform to rely on for their projects but with the possibility of reaching a greater number of users, namely those ofi Google Chrome and Android.

Users would obviously also have major benefits from this new situation. In fact, they could benefit from the best aspects inherent to the two different operating systems, being able to guarantee a more satisfying experience than the current one. Obviously right now these are mere indiscretions, as there is nothing official and certainly, so these are predictions that could also prove to be incorrect in part.

To have certainty about it, it is necessary to wait until next October 4th to understand what reality will happen from this point of view and what will be announced in the important appointment organized by Google for that date.

For now, the only certainty is the presence of smartphones Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which, apparently, will replace Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P as Google’s new top of the range in the smartphone segment. These will be characterized by the presence of the logo in the rear area, while the prices should be higher than in that of the predecessors.
