Facebook Gaming launches for iOS after 4 months of rejections and no video game feature

Facebook launched its Facebook Gaming video game streaming platform for iOS mobile phones on Friday, four months after its launch for Android because it was initially rejected by Apple, and without the function of playing video games to comply with the policies of the App Store.

Facebook Gaming arrived on Android in April, and it is an application that allows users to watch and create broadcasts of video games in streaming, as well as directly play some titles.

This last aspect has been problematic for the arrival of the application to the App Store – Apple’s official software platform for iOS-, where it is now available after four months of rejections by Apple.

However, Facebook has been forced to “completely eliminate the function of playing video games to obtain approval from Apple,” as Facebook’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, told The Verge.

Facebook Gaming includes the rules of the App Store because it is a platform that includes video games internally, so Apple cannot review them individually.

This is the same problem that has prevented the arrival of Microsoft’s xCloud and Google’s Stadia video game streaming platforms from reaching iOS, as the Cupertino company itself has admitted.

The lack of the video game function of Facebook Gaming means that “iOS users will have a lower experience than those who use Android,” said Sandberg, who assured that Facebook has a community of 380 million people who play video games on the social network. each month.
