Xgimi Mogo Pro + Review: A complete portable projector with Android TV
Xgimi Mogo Pro + is a portable projector with absolutely interesting performances, on sale at a list price of approx 649 euroscharacterized by the presence of Android TV pre-installed, as well as anyway speaerk made in collaboration with Harman Kardon e battery integrated. Let’s find out together in ours review complete.
Aesthetics and Design
The product features a design definitely captivating and elegant, even if in line with the standards (for example the Nebula already reviewed in the past); having been born to be portable, these have dimensions very smallspecifically reaches suns 146 x 105.5 x 94mmwith a weight of 900 grams. The projector can be safely placed in a small backpackwithout causing too much trouble (even if we would have preferred a bag for transport in the package).
There grill of the speakers occupies the entire lower surface, with the slow set in the upper part. Above we find the buttons for control, soft touch, therefore without actual stroke, but still with a satisfactory performance, even if we would have preferred to hear the much loved “click”. In the back, finally, here comes the button physicist for power on / off, ventilation fans and connectivity physics.
This is represented by a HDMI portone USB type A and a jack 3.5mm. Control can also take place via the remote controller included in the package, the dimensions are small, but in terms of ergonomics and buttons, it does not change from the standards. The Xgimi Mogo Pro + is made with materials of absolute qualityit does not appear to be too soft, nor did we hear any creaking in daily use (and it is certainly a good thing), present, if interested, the ***** coupling at the bottom for positioning on a tripod.
Hardware and Technical Specifications
Technically the Xgimi Mogo Pro + is a portable projector DLPwith native resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels (FullHD), but 2K / 4K support. The maximum brightness of 300 ANSI Lumens allows you to use it without too many thoughts with complete darkness and a very slight dim light, no more (depending on the battery charge).
The product can be used in many different ways, you got it right, unlike what we are used to, does not require necessarily the positioned in perpendicular to the projection wall, in fact it can be used for example in diagonalalways keeping the projection correctly parallel to the surface. A convenience absolute which maximizes the versatility of the product itself. To this must be added autofocus and correction keystone fully automatic, e well done in seconds.
To try to make it even more versatile, the guys at Xgimi thought of inserting a small “backsplash” of a few centimeters at the bottom, adjustable in various positionsjust apt to increase noticeably inclination itself. The dimensions of the surface on which to project the image reach very high levels, generally it is around 76 inches to 2 meters away, but they could also touch beyond 100 inchesmoving away.
The image it’s basic very clear, what is surprising is the detail of the scene reproduced, with a precision that has nothing to envy to much more expensive competitors. The reproduction of colors it is faithful enough, it is not one dynamic range too wide, but we still notice an excellent propensity to respect the scene, without pushing too much on contrast or saturation. Everything is “deteriorating” with the progressive removal of the surface.
If interested in more technical details, the Xgimi Mogo Pro + integrates a Amlogic T905X2 processorflanked by a Mali-G31 GPU2GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory. The wireless connectivities offered are of course bluetooth And Wifithrough which it is possible to use it like a speaker speaker (there are two speakers from 3 watts the one).
Operating system, audio and battery
The connection is quick, when playing music it is possible to turn off the light source appropriately. The speakers, made in collaboration with Harman Kardonpromise an overall yield satisfying. Cannot reach level one Sonos Onewith which it shares the design, however, due to the nature of the product, we cannot complain at all. The maximum volume is sufficiently high, the distortion is minimal, the detail and sharpness are discrete; i are slightly missing bassif we really have to find a fault in it.
The operating system is theAndroid TV, the same that we find for example on Sony Bravia TVs. The presence of the Play Store allows you to install the main streaming applications, such as Rai Play, Prime Video, DAZN, DPlay, Disney + or similar, among which we really feel the lack of Netflix (an important limitation given the final sale price, it is necessary to use an external device). Navigation is still fluid, without lag or slowdowns, the presence of the Chromecast integrated however, it allows you to transmit content remotely with absolute simplicity. For the rest it integrates all the characteristic functions of Android TV (for better or for worse).
Being a portable projector, theautonomy represents the other very important point to evaluate. The Xgimi Mogo Pro + reaches approx 2 hours And 30 minutes of continuous use for the reproduction of contents in FullHD, which are reduced in 4K, while they rise to more than 5 hours if used as a speaker speaker. General autonomy is also in line with the standards we are used to.
Xgimi Mogo Pro +: conclusions
In conclusion Xgimi Mogo Pro + is a portable performance projector really interestingfeaturing high quality design, level speaker, operating system Android TV and of course small size with one battery with adequate autonomy.
On the other side of the coin, however, we find the absence of Netflix (that is, it is impossible to download it from the Play Store), and certainly a price high that limit the choice by the consumer himself.
