Xalapa City Council and state PC identify 9 risk zones due to the rainy season; will alert the public
The Civil Protection Secretariat (PC), in coordination with the Xalapa City Council, identified nine risk areas in the rainy season, for which they will carry out an alert and operational program to prevent citizens.
In this regard, the head of the PC, Guadalupe Osorno Maldonado, explained that Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez ordered that priority be given to the state capital due to the floods that occur every year this season, so the operation is for prevent citizens in areas where landslides occur. you know they happen.
“Governor Cuitláhuac García asked us to address the problem of flooding due to rain as a priority, there are nine identified areas where the levels of rain are different. An alert will be made for these areas and operational.
He also explained that with the works that are being carried out in Xalapa, it is expected that once completed they will be an important solution to the floods, although he accepted that this is a problem that has been coming for many years because the capital is not in a flat place. but it has several slopes.
Secretary Guadalupe Osorno also mentioned that there are two emergency declarations in eight municipalities, two due to floods and six due to landslides, mainly in the Sierra de Zongolica.
For this reason, he reminded citizens that the federal program to support the declaration of emergency is not suspended, so the federation does send support when a situation arises due to natural phenomena, the only thing that was withdrawn was the trust that existed some years.
Finally, the municipalities that were affected and will receive some support are Mixtla de Altamirano, Atlahuilco, Los Reyes, Las Choapas, Zongolica, Soledad Atzompa, Tequila and Texhuacán.
