“Tell me the damn truth or I’ll buy a Lumia”
The Watch Dogs resolution and frame rate saga on the PlayStation 4 is continuing as the owner of the platform, Sony, has removed some text from its official website, suggesting that the game will run at 60 frames per second in 1080p in its next generation format. The page – which was the source of much speculation over the weekend – now simply claims that the litterbox getaway will look better on the Japanese giant’s supercharged device, but doesn’t delve into the details.
Meanwhile, both parties are being frustratingly shy about the situation. We haven’t heard from Ubisoft yet, but a representative told VG247 that they have nothing to announce at this time. Since this is a simple technical specification, we are not entirely sure why both companies are being so secretive. We suppose the French firm may want to keep this information secret if it makes other formats look inferior, but that didn’t stop Konami from being alarmingly outspoken earlier this year.
Either way, we suspect this story will stick until the publisher announces something official. We would argue that regardless of the details and the company’s chest bumps, you should probably expect the open-world excursion to look better on Sony’s system, as has been the case with almost all multi-format titles up to now. Whether or not it really matters, though, is honestly still open to debate.
