Uh-oh! Final Fantasy VII Remake will be Episodic on PS4

Uh-oh! Final Fantasy VII Remake will be Episodic on PS4

Here’s a way to completely destroy all the hype Square Enix built around Final Fantasy VII Remake this weekend: The game will be episodic – or something. The news comes courtesy of Dengeki Online’s faltering translations, but what we know for sure is that the game will be released in multiple parts: you won’t be enjoying the entire story from start to finish in one go.

“The idea that a Final Fantasy VII remake couldn’t fit on one disc was there from the beginning,” said producer Yoshinori Kitase. “We can’t share more information about its multiple parts yet, but please look forward to future announcements.” Tetsuya Nomura added that he didn’t want to “summarize” anything from the original, so he decided to split the story.

Could a New Prince of Persia be in development for PS4?

It’s a bit of an exaggeration, isn’t it? While we’re hoping for something more akin to the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy than a Telltale title, the thought of having to wait years between installments has us a bit unnerved… Still, we guess things were already too good to be true, right? We had to be brought back to Earth eventually.

Update (18:45PM GMT): Square Enix has clarified that while Final Fantasy VII’s story will be broken, each so-called “episode” will consist of a full game.
