It’s been dark for quite some time, but Cyberpunk 2077 is bound to be back in the spotlight in the relatively near future. As production has moved on to the two expansion packs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the first of which will be released on PlayStation 4 next week, CD Projekt Red will be thinking about how to start promoting its next property.
According to visual effects artist José Teixeira, “Cyberpunk is so much bigger than anything CD Projekt Red has done before.” Speaking to MCV, he adds: “We are entering the unknown in terms of complexity, size and problems that we encounter.”
With the critical and commercial success of The Witcher 3, it’s no wonder that the Polish developer is using the title as a reference when developing Cyberpunk 2077, as Teixeira explains: “The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game was made so big and complex that it really taught us I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something to do. This time I did it, next time I do it differently, I can do it better.”
A single CG trailer is all we’ve seen of the supposedly gritty RPG so far, but we’d wager we’ll hear more about the long-awaited release as we head into 2016.
