The iPad mini suffer from the so-called “jelly scroll” effect

Recently, the presentation of the latest devices of Manzanaamong which is the new generation of the iPad mini. However, as we can read on Gizmodo, it seems that their screens are suffering from the so-called “jelly scroll” effect.

This is not new, and it is a problem that appeared at the time in the OnePlus 5, from a hardware failure related to a incorrect mounting of the terminal screen. Also, more recently, the first generation of the Samsung Galaxy Fold suffered from the same problem, possibly with a similar origin to the OnePlus problem.

In the video on these lines we can see, in slow motion, how one side of the screen is updated before the other, while another user in the Tweet thread seems to have encountered the same problem on the previous generation iPad minibut in another orientation that seems to make it less obvious.

Whatever the problem, there are several possibilities, the friendliest being that this can be fixed with a software update. On the other hand, Apple can hope that users get used to the screen working as it is, since, in landscape orientation, that effect seems to disappear completely, something that makes perfect sense given how an LCD panel works.
