After the different rumors of the last months, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake has been officially announced. As stated in one of those rumors, it is being developed by Aspyr Media, the game is going to be a full remake of the beloved 2003 BioWare classic, and given that game’s pedigree and legacy, the developer has a lot to accomplish. Following its announcement, more details on the remake have been made available in a PlayStation Blog post written by lead producer Ryan Treadwell.
First of all, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will be an exclusive release for the PS5 console. That likely means it will be released for PC as well, and it’s not yet known how long its PS5 exclusivity will last.
However, regarding the game itself, Treadwell writes:
“We are rebuilding one of the greatest role-playing games of all time for a new generation with modern technology, features, visuals and more, while maintaining the integrity of the story and the characters that we have come to appreciate.”
He is later faced with adding that it is being rebuilt “from the ground up with the latest technology to match the groundbreaking standard of innovation set by the original, all while staying true to its revered history.”
Treadwell says, however, that Aspyr Media has “brought together the best talent from across the industry” and has a team that includes “industry veterans who have worked on great role-playing games, as well as some members of the original development team. from Knights of the Old Republic ”.
