Spotify kicks off a new section dedicated to audiobooks

Spotify has decided to enter in the world of audio books and it’s starting with nine classic fiction quite popular. If you want to hear more than just music and podcasts, it might not be a bad idea to have a better understanding of some literary classics.

These nine audiobooks are in the public domain, but these original recordings are exclusive to Spotify. The company is using these nine for consider a plausible addition to the service. Each audiobook includes a 10-15 minute “Sitting with the Classics on Spotify” chapter with Harvard Professor Glenda Carpio covering the story, tales and themes. Here are the available titles:

Spotify is testing the ground for audiobook implementation

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CEO of Spotify Daniel Ek first thought about adding audiobooks to the portfolio when he saw their popularity among German users. A few months ago, Spotify posted a job for an audiobook manager, further signaling interest in the market. The company has already pioneered audiobooks, bringing the first Harry Potter book on the platform last year with exceptional narrators such as Daniel Radcliffe, David Beckham And Dakota Fanningbut we haven’t heard anything since.

Audiobooks can be listened to on Spotify globally for free. They should appear near the top of the Home tab, so they should be easy to find.
