Samsung announces the first 16 Gb LPDDR5X RAM chips with 20% less consumption

While DDR5 memory arrives for the first time on the home computer market accompanying the new Intel Alder Lake processors, its low-power version, LPDDR5Xfor smartphones and other applications in the form of more content devices will soon arrive on the market from Samsung.

Samsung LPDDR5X chips promise 1.3x more performance and 20% less power

Samsung has announced the development of its first LPDDR5X RAM chips with capacity of 16Gb (Gigabit), a technology that improves the existing LPDDR5 chips and with which the company promises bandwidths of up to 8.5Gbps to get one speed 1.3 times faster than the last generation. In terms of consumption, the company ensures that its chips manage to work with a 20% less electricity consumption than the last generation LPDDR5.

Thanks to these 16 Gbps chips, Samsung and other manufacturers will be able to create 64 GB capacity LPDDR5X memories for each module, which will allow smartphones and other compact devices geared towards AI, 5G or IoT and other technologies, with larger amounts of RAM without needing more space.

They will be manufactured following the 14-nanometer process and are expected to arrive in different devices in the coming months.
