Samsung announces a new 200MP sensor but it will not arrive in an upcoming company launch

Last year, Samsung announced a 200-megapixel sensor under the ISOCELL HP1 model, a sensor that will debut on a Motorola smartphone called Frontierbut the company has not only not used the HP1, but it has already announced this morning an update to it under the name ISOCELL HP3, as we read in this news.

However, as we can read on the Ice Universe Twitter account, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will also not have a 200-megapixel sensor, something that makes one doubt in a certain way the quality of this sensor if the company does not want to use it in the higher end models, such as the Galaxy S, or one of its folding models.

This removes a lot of weight from the megapixel race, and gives reason to the thousands and thousands of experts who over the years have warned that megapixels are not synonymous with quality, something that can be an issue with such a high pixel density on such a relatively small sensor.

As we explained this morning, the Samsung ISOCELL HP3 exists, it also has a resolution of 200 megapixels, and it will probably arrive in a terminal of Chinese origin, be it Motorola or any other brand like Xiaomi, Oppo or Huawei, although it will not do so before 2023.
