Omicron BA.2: the new variant of the coronavirus causes concern

The current war in Ukraine is making us forget quickly enough that we are still in one pandemic. If I thought I had completely left it behind, here is the Omicron strain coronavirus returns to be felt, albeit with some differences. It is a new strain, the BA.2. Despite the little news about it, it is actually already spread all over the world and is causing a new wave.

What we have learned from the previous Omicron wave is that the number of infections now matters little. Above all we must be at the pressure on the health system therefore in fact the increase of only new cases of infection should not cause an excessive alarm, but the situation must obviously be monitored.

Omicron BA.2: the new wave

The first problem with this variant of the Micron is the fact that it is particularly elusive to tests so the current numbers already recorded can be safely considered lower than the reality of things. Presents 8 unique mutations compared to other strains of the virus in circulation with many others shared. An important aspect is precisely the fact that it is not very different then those who have already been infected in the last wave have greater protection.

Vaccines should also ensure optimal protection against this sub-variant of the Micron. As with the last wave, the problem will be who has not been vaccinated. It is difficult to think of returning to restrictive measures, but the operating system remains the most critical point whose evolution to make decisions, or not to take, accordingly. At the moment, the danger seems very limited.
