Raphael Lacoste, a Ubisoft developer who has been with the company for an impressive 16 years, announced his departure from the publisher earlier this week. Lacoste had been art director on the Assassin’s Creed series for the last decade or so, helping bring to life such titles as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and the latest installment Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Lacoste will arguably have had a significant impact on one of the most popular properties in the game.
Interestingly, it has been confirmed that Lacoste is going to sign with Haven Studios. Regular readers will recognize the name; It is about the recently created developer directed by the also veteran Jade Raymond. Haven Studios has the support of Sony to create an exclusive for PlayStation 5.
It’s still very early days, but there’s no denying the talent and experience that form the backbone of Haven Studios – and Lacoste is sure to add to it. For more on who’s working at Haven Studios, we wrote a roundup a few weeks ago.
