Microsoft joins the Linux Foundation

Yes, we are not in April Fool’s Day yet although it may seem so. microsoft has gone a step further in its strategy of opening up and focusing on services to such an extent that they have become platinum members of the Linux function.

The operating system Linux, which until recently was one of the main competitors of Windows, will now have the collaboration of the Redmond giant. Microsoft’s flirtations with Open Source are not really something new, in factthe company is the top contributor to open source projects on Github and by joining the Linux Foundation they hope to be able to work more closely with the community on cloud-focused and mobile technologies.

This includes the launch of the first preview of SQL Server for Linuxa release that was already announced but that would have been unthinkable not many years ago.
