Microsoft downsizes operations in Russia, lays off more than 400 people

Today we have echoed that IBM ceased its operations in Russialaying off its entire staff, but it seems that Microsoft has made the same decision, significantly reducing its operations in Russia, something that has resulted in more than 400 people losing their jobs.

At the time, the company turned off the sales of new products and services in Russia during the month of March, and now, as we see in The Vergethe company has laid off more than 400 employees as operations in the Russian region are significantly scaled back.

These changes come, according to Microsoft, after observing the economic situation that awaits the country, as well as the impact that the current situation has had on its business in Russia – let us remember, it was already reduced after ceasing some sales – although for now the contractual obligations with Russian customers will continue to be fulfilled.

Microsoft has indicated that it is working closely with workers impacted by this measure to the extent possible, possibly including some help finding another job. It is not clear how many workers there are currently in the Russian division of Microsoft, but as in the case of IBM, the income generated by this division does not reach 1 percent of the global total.
