Microsoft against Spam

Microsoft has patented the anti-spam technology called SmartScreen, and it will begin rolling out to all e-mail platforms, including Microsoft Exchange Intelligence Message Filter.

The presentation was made at COMDEX 2003, in Las Vegas. This new Microsoft technology has been implemented in unfinished versions of the Outlook 2003, MSN 8 and MSH Hotmail programs, and will soon be included in Exchange Server 2003.

Thousands of MSN Hotmail users have volunteered to test this new technology, classifying millions of messages as correct or spam, thus generating more than 500,000 spam characteristics, which SmartScreen can track.
