AH HA HA HA HA HA HA
Recently, Japan’s national broadcasting organization NHK conducted a series of Final Fantasy polls, asking fans to vote for their favorite game, characters, bosses, and music. Nearly half a million votes were cast, and some of the results are… Well, some of them are reasonable, but some of them are questionable at best.
In fact, Japan considers Final Fantasy X to be the best entry in Square Enix’s long-running series. Look, we love Final Fantasy X, even if some parts of it have gotten really, really old, but we wouldn’t even dream of calling it the best ever. We all know that Final Fantasy IX is the one to beat (obviously).
Anyway, here are the top ten Final Fantasy games according to the survey:
-
final fantasy x
-
Final Fantasy 7
-
Final Fantasy VI
-
Final Fantasy IX
-
final fantasy XIV
-
Final Fantasy 5
-
Final Fantasy VIII
-
Final Fantasy IV
-
final fantasy eleven
-
Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy XII, a masterpiece in our eyes, and we’ll never be convinced otherwise, is in 15th place, while the eternally divisive Final Fantasy XIII comes in just ahead of Vaan and the gang in 14th.
In the meantime, here are the top ten Final Fantasy characters according to the poll:
-
Cloud (Final Fantasy VII)
-
Yuna (Final Fantasy X)
-
Aerith (Final Fantasy VII)
-
Vivi (Final Fantasy IX)
-
Zidane (Final Fantasy IX)
-
Emet-Selk (Final Fantasy XIV)
-
Tidus (Final Fantasy X)
-
Lightning Bolt (Final Fantasy XIII)
-
Tifa (Final Fantasy VII)
-
Zack (Final Fantasy VII)
That’s a lot of Final Fantasy VII, isn’t it? Even Zack managed to crack the top ten, with Sephiroth right behind him in 11th place.
As for bosses, Knights of the Round (Final Fantasy VII) tops the charts, while the immensely atmospheric At Zanarkand (Final Fantasy X) was voted best theme song.
It’s interesting, but do you agree with the results? Give us your obviously correct opinion in the comments section below.
