“… That’s why our next game will be amazing.”
You may want to delete another possible PlayStation 4 ad from your E3 2014 wall planner, as Guerrilla Games appears to have drifted out of the limelight at the Los Angeles convention. Speaking as part of an Ask Me Anything session on the popular Reddit website, lead online producer Samrat Sharma explained that the firm will not be showing its rumored RPG for the time being, mainly because it is not ready.
“We have enough confidence in the game, but it is not something that we can show and expect reasonable feedback,” he told the rabid fans. “There is a lot of work we have to do before showing it to our fans.” While the developer was eager to steer the discussion away from the studio’s secret and exclusive project, Sharma hinted that the release may boast an open world. “You’ll have to wait for the announcement of the next game to see what it does,” he said when asked about the sandbox versions.
Let’s assume that, like Naughty Dog, the rumor of the two teams that has been linked to Guerrilla Games has been a bit of a stretch. The firm’s new franchise is more likely to have been in pre-production for a few years, and just entered full-scale development following the completion of Killzone: Shadow Fall. Rumors of alleged “insiders” in the industry have previously suggested that it is on track to be launched in late 2015, which is consistent with the information contained herein.
Sadly, with Media Molecule and Guerrilla Games seemingly pulling out of this year’s big PlayStation press conference, at least that eager E3 schedule is starting to look more ridiculous by the day. We suppose these companies might be lying to us to maintain the element of surprise, but let’s face it: only Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe is crafty enough to get away with such antics.
