Google: an alert system on Android is born in Ukraine for imminent air attacks

The war in Ukraine is causing many casualties and people right now are relying on air strike warnings to try to escape in time. It is a truly tragic situation and for this reason Google is partnering with the Ukrainian government to help the population in this regard.

It was announced in a post on the company’s official blog an alert system that the giant would like to implement soon on Android smartphones from all over the country. The feature was initially spotted by XDA-Developers. Apparently the notices will be based on those already sent by the Ukrainian government and the function it will be adapted by an earthquake warning system already available.

Google at the forefront of helping Ukraine

Currently Google has highlighted on the Play Store Ukrainian Alarm app which sends notifications of impending air strikes in the affected regions. The new alert system will have already been launched, but will extend to all smartphones in Ukraine over the next few days.

Due to the Russian invasion, Google has currently suspended all ad sales and removed Russian state-funded media apps from Google Play in Europe. The company is working to support Ukraine with reliable information and trying to ensure the safety of colleagues and their families in the region.
