For the ears! There’s more to PS4 Racer DriveClub than good looks

stronger than a lion

PlayStation-exclusive racers don’t always have the best sound: close your eyes as you tackle the Nürburgring in Gran Turismo 6, and you might be tricked into thinking you’re driving a vacuum cleaner rather than a Bugatti Veyron. Fortunately, this won’t be a problem in the PlayStation 4 semi-sim DriveClub, as Evolution Studios have worked tirelessly to capture the full list of engine sounds from their catalog of over 50 cars.

This new trailer hammers home the starting point with endearing simplicity. It loops around a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, showing off the vehicle’s rough engine both from the outside and inside the supercar’s cockpit. The company claims it’s setting a new benchmark for automotive audio, using 16 synchronized microphones to capture every click, snap and roar. It’s certainly a step up from Polyphony Digital’s half-hearted efforts, isn’t it?
