For Musk, the era of fighters has passed: the future passes through combat with drones

Elon MuskCEO of Tesla and Space X, stated that fighter-bombers are already “obsolete”, considering that in the future they will fight with drones, whose production will be significantly cheaper. The American multimillionaire and visionary said this at a conference full of US Air Force pilots during the Air Warfare symposium, which took place in the state of Florida.

“The era of fighters is over (…). Combat with drones is what awaits us in the future (…). It’s not what I want it to be, but it’s what it really will be, ”Musk said in a room full of Force United States Air Force pilots.

In the same speech, the visionary criticized the lack of competition from the new F-35, the most expensive jet fighter in the Pentagon fleet. “The Joint Strike Fighter, it should have a competitor (…) this is a controversial topic, but I don’t think it’s a good supplier.”

Musk later took to Twitter to say the competitor’s F-35 should be a drone. “The competition should be a fighter drone, remotely controlled by a human, but with greater maneuverability for autonomy (…). The F-35 would have no chance, ”he wrote on the social network.

Innovate and bet on new technological possibilities

The Space X CEO also advised the United States to increase its bet on innovation and space technology so as not to lose the “race” with respect to China. “This was not a risk in the past, but for now. I have no doubt that if the United States does not seek space innovation, we will be second ”.

And he went on, predicting that the Chinese economy will overtake North America, reaching at least double that. “The foundation of warfare is economic (…) if you have half the resources of your rival, you’d better be truly innovative. If you are not, you will lose, ”the manager warned.
