Elon Musk says SpaceX will touch Mars in 2024

Elon Musk missed the 2022 appointment with Mars, the spacecraft of his SpaceX will not be ready by that date. But Musk is sure to make it to the next short window in which it is possible the launch of a vehicle to the Red Planet.

A short launch window for Mars

Musk had initially thought he could exploit the 2022 launch window for a test flight and then his own in 2024 first manned flight towards the arid and inhospitable planet.

But at a virtual Mars Society conference, Elon Musk said he won’t make it. His Starship will not be ready until 2023 and therefore the 2024 window will be the first available. In fact, every two years, Mars and the Earth get closer and it is in this moment of closeness that it is possible to start spacecraft for this exotic, fascinating and dangerous destination.

Precisely for this reason in July of this year there was the launch of three robotic missions to the Red Planet, including the new NASA’s Martian Rover, Perseverance. Now the next available windows will therefore be in 2022 and 2024 and Elon Musk has declared that he believes he has a chance to exploit that of 2024.

But to do that Elon Musk needs push on the accelerator and puts pressure on his team. Determined and determined, he is also willing to take the risk of losing some rocket or some other component during trials and tests. But it sure is a negligible risk, if you are Elon Musk and you want to be the first to go to Mars.

After Mars Elon Musk will conquer the entire Solar System

When it is ready, the Starship, it can bring dozens of people at a time on Mars. But so far the first prototypes have only performed short, low-flying flights from the headquarters of the SpaceX in Texas. Musk hopes the first models can reach Earth’s orbit in next year’s trials.

According to the SpaceX CEO, the company could prove it is capable of performing gods supplies in orbit in 2022. From here the next stop will be the Moon. Once we reach the Moon, the next destination will be Mars and then Musk’s dreams and plans head towards Venus and its atmosphere, Jupiter and its moons and finally the Kuiper belt and the boundaries of the Solar System.
