Chrome OS Flex is now available, the OS that will give old PCs a second chance
After spending a long time in beta, Chrome OS Flex has finally reached its stable version with a view to giving new life to those PC and Mac computers that seem to have no future.
This new operating system signed by Google will support more than 400 devices with more than 10 years of various brands, including Apple, with a validity that could reach until 2028. (See the complete list here)
Chrome makes it easy to install extensions without examining where they come from
Chrome OS Flex can be installed on computers that are not yet certified, although Google warns that minor issues may occur in these cases.
This proposal is available to any user, although it was actually conceived as a support for companies and educational centers, which will now be able to continue using their obsolete equipment by acquiring the corresponding licences.
Chrome OS Flex will also deliver constant updates that run in the background, keeping your PC up-to-date without compromising downtime.
Chrome OS Flex is an environmental proposal
Google’s new OS will not only benefit the pockets of many companies, educational centers and private users.
Actually, for Google it is a launch with which it can help reduce the amount of electronic waste and energy consumption by up to 19 percent, according to the company itself in a statement.
Thanks to this move, Chrome OS will no longer be exclusive to Chromebooks and Chromeboxes, but will instead land on other PC and Mac devices.
