Where during the E3 2018 demo of Cyberpunk 2077 some cutscenes could still be seen in third person, CD Projekt Red has now confirmed that all cutscenes are in first person. They made this choice because they find immersion very important in the game.
CD Projekt Red has announced in a Facebook conversation with a fan that all cutscenes in Cyberpunk 2077 are in first-person. This comes as an unpleasant surprise to many fans, who expressed their displeasure en masse in the comments of a Reddit post.
One of the main complaints is that the very extensive character creation system in this way is virtually useless, since you can almost only see your own character in a mirror. From a first-person, it can also be a lot more difficult to get your character’s emotions into account, since you don’t see facial expressions and postures. You only hear the voice, which is not always enough to convey the right emotions.
The remarkable thing is that third-person cutscenes have been in the game. For example, during the demo shown at E3 2018 we saw this cutscene in V’s apartment, among others. According to the Facebook conversation, they have chosen to make cutscenes only in first-person, to increase the immersion. This also means that the s*x scenes in the game are in first person, which the Facebook user also wondered.
Community manager Marcin Momot of CD Projekt Red explained on Twitter why they made this choice and said that we can still see our character at times, such as while driving, in the mirror and very occasionally in a cut scene. .
2/2 That said, players will still be able to see their characters in the inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and, very occasionally, in some of the cut scenes.
