As popular as the God of War games are a lot of people have questions about how long the series runs for, what order you should play them in and so on. This article touches on multiple facets of the games along with exploring which ones are related to other games in your library. Clearly show players that God of war is a lengthy franchise but easily digestible if you start at a particular point!

The God of War series is one of Sony’s most popular and well-known franchises. The first game was released in 2001 and since then, there have been 8 games released. This franchise can be a bit confusing because there are a lot of different games, and they can be played in a lot of different orders. Hopefully this guide can help out!

If you’re new to the series, I recommend starting with the original game. It’s an absolute classic, and it’s the perfect way to get introduced to the magic that is Kratos. After playing through that game, it’s worth picking up God of War II for PS2. Again, it’s an excellent game and it has a great story line that continues on into God of War III.

Speaking of Kotros, if you’ve completed all three God of War games then you definitely need to pick up Karats’ latest adventure – God of War: Ascension for PlayStation 4. This game was released in 2011 and features completely new gameplay mechanics that take advantage of the newest console technology. If you’re looking for a challenging action adventure game that will leave you wanting more then make sure to check out Ascension!

God of War Games

If you’re looking for a game that will test your reflexes, look no further than the God of War franchise. Released in 1997, the first game in the series features cutting-edge graphics and gameplay. In 2018, Sony finally released a remaster of the original game. If you’ve never played God of War before, now is a great time to jump into the series. The first game is available on PlayStation 4, while subsequent games are also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Here’s our recommended order for playing the God of War games:

God of War (1997): Play this first if you’re new to the series. It’s set up as a tutorial level so you can get used to the controls and gameplay.

God of War II (2005): This game introduces new characters and an expanded world map. It’s a bit more challenging than the original game, but remains enjoyable.

God of War III (2011): The third game in the series introduces Kratos’ son, Atreus, who helps guide him on his quests. The combat has been greatly improved, making this one a more cerebral experience than previous games in the series.

God of War (2018): This is the latest game in the series. Unlike previous games, this one is a pseudo-open world experience. You can explore various areas but really you’re just pressing through from place to place to check off whatever statue or location you need for your storyline as a new Kratos emerges. The game has shifted horizons and genres easily and naturally, adapting itself to each immediate situation when it encounters a problem.

God of War games and order in which you should play them?

God of War is an award-winning action-adventure game franchise developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation console. The first installment in the series was released on March 15, 2005 and since then, there have been six games in the series. The latest game in the series, God of War, was released on April 20th, 2018. Players can choose to play any of the games in any order, but there are some important plot points that should be experienced in order.

The plot of God of War revolves around Kratos, a former Spartan general turned brutal warlord who is betrayed by his own family and enslaved by Ares, the god of war. After being freed by Athena, Kratos meets up with his son Atreus and sets out to find revenge on Zeus and his family. Along the way, Kratos battles giant beasts and ruthless warriors while earning power and riches to finance his revenge.

Players should experience God of War in order to understand its themes and messages. The first game introduces the idea of Kratos as a broken man who is seeking redemption. The second game expands on this idea by showing how Kratos sacrifices everything to achieve his goals. The third game controversially changes this by showing how Kratos manipulated and preyed on his son while working towards his goals.

Pros vs. Cons of Starting from the Beginning

While there are many benefits to playing a God of War game in order, starting from the beginning may not be for everyone. If you’re new to the series, or just don’t have time to invest in all of the games, here’s a look at the pros and cons of playing God of War in this specific order.

How To Play God Of War In Order: the Super-Easy Guide

-If you’re new to the series, or just don’t have time to invest in all of the games, playing from the beginning will give you a greater understanding of Kratos’ backstory and character.

-Kratos starts out as a much weaker character, which means that you can easily pick him up and learn how to fight while making your way through the first few games.

-Each successive game becomes increasingly challenging and incorporates new mechanics that you may not have seen before. For example, Leviathan requires an extreme amount of precision from players, while Ghost of Sparta features more elaborate plat forming sequences.

– Starting from the beginning can be difficult if you’re not familiar with prior games in the series. Many elements (such as puzzle solving) are introduced for the first time in these installments.

Although there are many debate able issues with the game, no one can deny that God of War is an incredibly well-crafted video game. One of my favorite things about it is the fact that you can play it in any order you want, so whether you want to tackle the Origins story first, or finish up the games from previous entries before playing again on Spartan Ops, there’s no wrong way to do it.
